Development
Dragon Boating WA Inc. (DBWA) is committed to providing opportunities to its membership for development in areas such as sweeping, coaching, officiating and high performance.
Sweeping
All dragon boat activity approved by DBWA requires each dragon boat to have a steerer, otherwise known as a Sweep. These Sweeps must obtain DBWA Sweep Accreditation prior to steering. The courses are delivered in accordance with the nationally adopted Sweep Accreditation Program.
Further information on sweep accreditation is available in our Documents section

Coaching
AusDBF Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching are currently available. All clubs must have at least one current, Level 1 accredited coach for both training and regattas. Please contact the Director of Coaching to find out when the next course is.
The Level 1 Coaching Course is aimed at preparing beginner coaches for club or community based activities.
The Level 2 Coaching Course is aimed at those wishing to coach at a state and/or national level.
Please see the page on coaching on the right for further information.
Officials
Officials are an extremely important part of our sport and without them, our dragon boat events wouldn't function. The national body (AusDBF) offers three levels of accreditation for Officials. Grade 3 AusDBF officials may proceed to the international body (IDBF) officials accreditation.
DBWA is offering a grant program to help recipients develop their skills and experience as accredited officials as well as to upgrade and maintain their competency. Further information is available below.
If you are interested in becoming an official for DBWA events please email us.
